Resumen: Environmental regulation, within the context of economic theory, can be approached within problems concerning information. Information can be understood in terms of its internal or external meaning, depending on its economic significance. The external meaning of economic information refers to characteristic elements regarding the economic environment in which agents interact, the market operates, the competition is faced and opportunities are presented. The internal concept of economic information refers to the values and moral motivation encouraging and guiding individuals and society in their behavior and in economic decisionmaking. This thorny problem concerning economic analysis has not been foreign to the research efforts of economic analysis' main approaches. The intention of uncovei:ng these complex networks, ultimately explaining economic agents' behavioral rationality and greatly encouraging recent discussion regarding economic theory, will not be the exception in this proposal for the design of mechanisms designed to regulate that which is environmental.
